An opportunity to collaborate with one of London’s most-talked about and up-and-coming restaurants is too grand to neglect. Barang’s about to go bang with their next move, and for one night only, we will be collaborating with them with the utmost excitement and pride.

The brilliance of @tomgeoffrey’s Cambodian expressions, with the helping hand of the ocakbaşı’s grill and its charcoal-infused flavour, will be on full display on Tuesday July 21st.

Scallops with Urfa Chilli over flames, sizzling in its spice. Beef coated with lemongrass wrapped in vine leaves, charred and smoked so all the elements become familiar.

All signs point east. East London. East of Europe. East of Asia. It brings flair, fragrant spices, and fundamentally, fire.

FOR A ONE-NIGHT-ONL Y COLLABORATION WITH MANGAL 2

After a 15-month journey that saw Whyte’s host events across more than 40 citiesworldwide, the acclaimed dining concept is returning home to London for aone-night-only Turkish-meets-British pop-up in collaboration with Mangal 2.

Marking their first UK event since their final leg in Australia this year on its global tour, the exclusive dinner will bring together the flavours and inspirations gathered on the road with the bold, fire-driven cooking that has made Mangal 2 one of London's most exciting restaurants.

Founded by Whyte Rushen and Livi Akers, Whyte's built a devoted following through its sold-out restaurant in Hackney before taking its distinctive approach to dining around the world. Since leaving London, the team has staged events across four continents, collaborating with leading chefs, restaurants and creative communities while developing a menu shaped by the people, ingredients and cultures encountered along the way.

The return to London represents both a homecoming and a celebration of the journey so far. Guests can expect a collaborative menu that blends Turkish influences with Whyte's unmistakable British perspective, delivered through a series of dishes designed exclusively for the evening. Limited to just 60 guests, the event has been purposefully designed as an intimate homecoming, giving the teams the opportunity to personally host diners and create a truly special experience.

Born in Colombia and raised in London, Michel Gutierrez cooks from the space between cultures, shaped by a family of Cuban, Danish and Turkish heritage.

After leaving a 17-year career in IT, he went on to work in kitchens including NoMad London, Ixchel and Fonda before founding El Jardín, a modern Latin American concept exploring authentic yet non-traditional flavours through a London lens.

His food reflects that in-between identity: not quite here, not quite there, but informed by both.

This menu is a personal celebration of family, heritage, and his son, half Turkish, half Colombian, brought together around the table.

Celebrate the end of 2025 at Mangal II this New Year’s Eve!

Historically, up until 6 years ago, we opened every NYE. Now we’re back, but want to provide something new, different, exciting, and crucially, indulgent, this year.

We’re opening with a special menu to see off all the highs, lows and its dipping waves in between on December 31st, open all day from 12pm until 8:30pm. Priced at £70 per guest.

We will be serving one-off blowout dishes in our offering. Slow cooked lamb, mussels on sourdough, John Dory’s, mountain tea custard tarts et al, in our festive, gluttonous feast. Vegan/Gluten Free options inc.

On top of that, upon entry you will receive a complimentary glass of sparkling wine and an oyster - to honour the passing of 2025, and to provide hope for 2026 and beyond.

Established in summer 2020, Tanrı Misafiri is a multi directional gastro project from Istanbul. Creating exceptional pop up dinners and restaurants in unique settings, their pop up events have taken them all over the world and around Turkey working with local and international chefs and Sunday 8th June they find themselves in London with us at Mangal 2. 

Founded in 2024 in Tokyo, Lokanta is a creative gastronomic project that reimagines Turkish cuisine through the lens of Japanese ingredients. What began as a series of pop-up events has evolved into a fusion-driven culinary experience, where time-honored Turkish flavors meet Japan’s rich seasonal bounty.

At its core, Lokanta is more than just food—it’s a creative endeavor that blends gastronomy with design, storytelling, and cultural exploration. The project extends beyond the plate with a distinctive brand identity and curated merchandise, reflecting our passion for craft and heritage.

Chef Derya Esdevlet – A true nomadic chef, Derya draws inspiration from his global travels, immersing himself in different culinary traditions and distilling them into his dishes. His approach to fusion is deeply personal, a journey of flavors that bridge continents and histories.

Creative Director, Met Ciftci – A Tokyo resident for over a decade, Met has spent more than six years as a Creative Director in the IT industry. In 2024, he founded Kkultur, a design studio specializing in vintage aesthetics. His expertise shapes Lokanta’s strong visual identity, blending nostalgia with modernity.

Marketing & Social Media Director, Zeynep Ciftci – Having lived in Japan for seven years, Zeynep co-runs Kkultur, spearheading branding, publishing, and digital storytelling. She brings Lokanta’s narrative to life, ensuring its essence reaches a global audience.

Mangal 2 X Alba - Sharing Roast
